Minimum Requirements:
- Be in possession of a Grade 12/N3 qualification or equivalent.
- Have accomplished training and have knowledge of Backfill and Gold plant operations.
- Have a minimum of least 2 years’ experience in Backfill and Gold plant Operations.
- Be willing to work overtime as required and FULCO.
- Be prepared to work at all plants within Gold Fields South Deep operations.
- Completed Thickener, Leaching and Gold plant operational courses.
- Be computer literate.
- Be able to speak, read write English.
- Be in possession of a code eight (EB) drivers licence.
- Knowledge of International Cyanide Management Institute implementation.
- Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.
Key Competencies:
- To conduct mock drills.
- To always maintain good housekeeping.
- To assist with relining when required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow the smelting process and produce gold to the correct purity level.
- Ensuring compliance to the Mines Health & Safety Act and related Standard Operating Procedures, and Codes of Practice.
- Accurate and timeous reporting of all relevant safety and production matters.
- Reporting directly to the Control room Overseer /Shift Supervisor.
- Responsible for safety and health in production.
- To carry out task specific to the area of responsibility.
- Be self-driven and able to work without a supervisor.
