PURPOSE: • To manufacture, construct, assemble and fit components for machinery and vehicles.
Minimum Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12/Standard 10 (Essential/Minimum)
• N3 Relevant Trade Subjects (Essential/Minimum)
• Trade: Fitter/Turner MQA/QCTO (Essential/Minimum)
EXPERIENCE:
2-3 years Applicable technical, electrical and mechanical maintenance experience within a heavy industry or mining environment. Importance: Essential/Minimum
Involvement: Operational
REQUIREMENTS:
• Psychometric Assessment (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Certificate of Fitness (Essential/Minimum) (To be conducted by Exxaro)
• Competence: Core MQA Modules Assessments (Essential/Minimum)
– On the Job MQA Modules Asses (Essential/Minimum)
Duties & Responsibilities
POSITION TASKS:
The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:
Equipment Operations and Control
• Inspect, repair and maintain assets and equipment and surrounding infrastructure
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Assume responsibility for maintenance and new installations and maintain records
• Maintain conveying systems and cutting systems
• Support maintenance jobs of operational personnel
• Perform maintenance during breakdowns and shutdowns
• Receive, complete and return job cards
• Transfer knowledge and give guidance to Artisan Aides and trainees to improve their skills
Inspection and Control
• Inspect all tools, equipment, instruments prior to use
• Inspect all vehicles, machines and mechanical equipment to identify defects
• Report defects immediately
• Carry out inspection according to a specific schedule to repair identified defects
Material/Resource Planning and Control
• Adhere to planned maintenance schedules
• Use available resources, both people and equipment optimally
• Assume responsibility for quality of maintenance and new installations in functional area
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
• Ensure safety comes first
• Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRAs)
• Adhere to all health and safety practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis
• Address all unsafe practices, potential hazardous situations and rectify and report to superior
• Comply with Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) and technical requirements
• Wear applicable Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) at all times
Specialised Support
• Select and mark required material according to exact measurements on blueprints, drawings or a model
• Make parts and fit to machinery
• Inspect damaged component parts such as gear boxes
• Make parts and fit to machinery
• Quality control of mechanical components
• Perform standby duties and training of personnel when required
• Plan and order parts to minimize production delays due to tool, equipment and instrument failure
• Receive, complete and return job cards
• Operate the following machines conventional lathe, milling machine, radial arm drill, Boring mill
• Operate and program CNC machines: Lathe and milling machines
